Mentorship in a Math-minded way (or Math tutoring from a role model and mentor)
Are you a parent or guardian who seeks to instill confidence in a young girl? One-Zero is launching MathSisters, where 18–25-year-old young women who excel at Math get connected as tutors with 11–18-year-old girls.
We believe in the power of positive role models and mentorship centered around something solid like Math, which can sustainably lead to math excellence and life confidence.
We are looking for inputs into the design of MathSisters. Specifically, we would like to understand better what combination of soft skills to include in the tutor selection process, in addition to Math excellence.
We are designing the program to have exceptional Math skills as the main driver of respect and credibility of the mentors/tutors but want to learn from the parents’/guardians’ perspective on this.
We are building a team of tutors with top 5% performance excellence in High School Math, but 1/1 live online tutoring is not the only way to get Math help for girls who seek to excel in Math. Here are some like-minded organizations that focus on various types of mentorship programs centered in Math.
